University of North Dakota signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Bulgaria’s Prime Minister and the Bulgarian Energy Holding
PRISM is pleased to congratulate the University of North Dakota in its signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Bulgaria’s Prime Minister and the Bulgarian Energy Holding to collaborate on critical minerals and rare earth elements development in that country. This MoU grew directly out of PRISM’s Financing the Stone Forum high-level, invitation-only roundtable in Sofia which took place earlier this summer.
PRISM continues to work with Pangea Global, a PRISM member, who leads the effort with the University. “This is the type of partnership PRISM seeks to facilitate and enable” said Kristi Rogers, PRISM’s co-founder. “Not only does it bring together government, industry, and academia to jointly work on a tangible project, it also shows the creative thinking necessary to address the most pressing supply chain issue facing the United States and its allies” she added.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said the signing is “extremely important not only for the development of the Bulgarian mining industry, but also for the technological advancement of both Bulgaria and the United States.” The signing took place at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United Nations ahead of the General Assembly meeting.
Specifically, the UND-Bulgaria project will pursue the extraction of urgently needed rare earth elements from Bulgaria’s large resources of lignite (brown coal).
