G7 Energy Ministers’ Summit Exit Brief at Embassy of Canada
PRISM co-hosted a G7 Energy Ministers’ Summit Exit brief at the Embassy of Canada last week. The discussion echoed the core themes expressed by G7 leaders: It is imperative to establish independence and secure our critical minerals supply chains from non-market policies and unfair trade practices that generate pricing volatility, hinder supply chain diversification, create instability and undermine our shared economic and security interests. The question is how?
Kristi Rogers moderated a panel of exceptional industry leaders dedicated to addressing the how and meeting the challenge of critical mineral supply chains. The discussion featured insights from Siemens Government Technologies' Greg Bowman, Rio Tinto's Jenna Schroeder, and E3 Lithium's Leigh Clarke.
The panel discussed how G7 countries, particularly the US and Canada, have recently taken exceptional action to invest in critical mineral and rare earth projects. The consensus was that the G7 needs to continue collaboration, using all available economic tools, including tax codes, investment policies, trade measures, and price floors. A key emphasis was the necessity of including industry in the planning and execution of these strategies to achieve independent, secure, and resilient supply chains, and to establish a high-standards marketplace among allied nations.
